Each full-time partner will have one holiday and one holiday weekend for 2021.

Please check you schedules and submit your preferences. Please note, I will try to observe your preferences even if it is at the end or beginning of one of your vacation weeks. If you volunteer to work a holiday that coincides with a vacation week, I will assume that it is intentional. I make this reminder every year and invariably someone discovers they are on vacation for the holiday for which they volunteered.
You should submit preferences for more than one holiday or it will be difficult to cover all the holidays. If I don’t have enough volunteers for specific holidays, they will still need to be covered. When we have to do this, the holiday will be covered based on who has had covered that holiday in recent years. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years are typically the holidays with the least number of volunteers.
Below are the holidays for 2021. I understand some hospitals will not have a holiday for July 4th, Christmas and New Years as these holidays fall on the weekend. I am trying to gather that information. The University of Maryland affiliated hospitals will probably give their employees comp days for these holidays and schedule regular working days on the Fridays and Mondays before or after the holiday. For 2021, all holidays except Thanksgiving fall on a Friday, Monday or during the weekend.
