This will be more complicated and numerous for 2022 as the actual Christmas and New Year’s holidays fall on Sunday 12/25/22 and Sunday 1/2/23. The hospitals typically make the adjoining weekday a holiday meaning that for 2022 Monday 12/26/22 and Monday 1/2/23 will the designated holiday.
This will probably not be the case for the UM hospitals. They like to take the opportunity to compensate holidays falling on a weekend by offering compensation days and keep the department open on Monday. This current year that meant we needed two doctors in house on both Friday 12/24/21 and Friday 12/31/21 before the Saturday holiday. I expect the same situation next year. BW, SJ and UC will have two doctors on 12/26/22 and 1/2/23, one of whom will be an angiographer. HM will have a general doctor in house on both 12/26/22 and 1/2/23.
To add to this, we will have an unspecified number of Radnet offices open on Monday 12/26/22 and Monday 1/2/23. The current estimate is 6 offices each Monday. Anyone not on vacation those weeks may be subject to working on those Mondays. The compensation is that it will be counted as a full workday although the workload is expected to be light and the offices may close early. At least it is the day after the actual holiday. It does not count as a holiday call.
